It is that the strongest path is no longer the default.

A second report said even a routine cancer-related question triggered the fallback, while Anthropic said more than 95% of early conversations did not downgrade.[S002] So the product change is not just raw capability. It is a system deciding how much model you get based on task risk.

My boundary here: this read comes from two June 2026 reports and Anthropic's stated early data, not a hands-on eval in my own 工作流程（workflow）. But that is already enough to change how I would read the release. The line people will keep repeating is not "the model got stronger." It is "why wasn't the strongest version served by default?
