Picture the real moment. You see another AI update in your feed, almost scroll past it, then stop because you do not want to miss the one detail that should change your next move. My conservative read is this: agents eliminate coordination labor before they eliminate expertise.
That matters because coordination labor is what most teams feel every week: status reports, cross-team follow-ups, and rewriting the same summary for different people. An update is worth reading not because of how many features it lists, but because it changes your next decision. The first thing agents remove is often the 交接(handoff), not the expert.
Microsoft's May 5, 2026 post mapped human+AI work into four roles and said the work going down is human step-by-step execution, while the work going up is setting direction, standards, and evaluation [S001]. Anthropic saw a similar shift at scale: across 1 million Claude conversations and 1 million API records, the share of tasks handed off to the model rose from 27% to 39% in 8 months [S003]. That does not mean coordination work has no judgment. It means coordination friction is exactly what agents can absorb first.
