My conservative take: the most useless KPI in the AI age is AI activity.
When 78% of organizations were already using AI in 2024, up from 55% in 2023, "we adopted AI" stopped being a differentiator.[S002] After that, seats and DAU tell you presence, not value.
That is why OpenAI's July 17, 2026 post matters.[S001] The argument was straightforward: don't judge AI by seats, activity, or renewals; judge it by how much useful work actually gets completed. A busy chat box can still end with the same manual cleanup.
So the weekly scorecard I want is simple: work completed as-is, work completed after edits, and work handed back to a person. This is based on OpenAI's post and Stanford HAI's 2025 AI Index, not on a benchmark from my own team.
A new AI post is worth your attention not because it lists more features, but because it changes your next decision. If this matches someone on your team who is still reporting AI DAU as progress, share this with them. What completed-work metric would you put on the dashboard first?
真正该讨论的是:A scorecard for the AI age
